We all know that our heart, brain and other vital organs should be cared for on a daily basis. Have you ever looked down and appreciated the importance of your feet? If you neglect foot care it can lead to problems walking, jogging, biking and hiking. Here are some helpful tips to follow so you won’t fail your feet…
Find the right footwear. Flat-soled sneakers with good support are ideal
Alternate shoes, daily if possible
Avoid high heels whenever possible and opt for footwear made of leather or cotton
Like any other muscle, your feet need exercise too. Try using approved arch supports and go for daily walks
Wear shower shoes in the locker room or at public pools
Do not cross your legs for long periods of time. This will reduce blood flow to your feet
Use lotions containing cocoa butter and rub into your skin
Sandals can be stylish but it’s important to wear socks. Socks absorb shock and moisture
Avoid pointy shoes and opt for a broad, rounded shoe with plenty of room for your toes and a wide, firm heel
When sitting elevate your feet
If you have any pain, swelling, or discolorations that persists consult your podiatrist
