Excessive trans fat intake raises the bad cholesterol and lowers the good cholesterol. This is exactly the opposite of what you would want to reduce cardiovascular disease. Trans fat foods would consist of french fried potatoes, donuts, pound cake and mayonnaise to name a few. Ways to reduce trans fats would be to limit deep fried foods, limit high fat baked goods and limit use of non-dairy creamers.
